I feel like attending the Thai Voodoo talk organised by babyboss from the Society of Paranormal Investigators (SPI).
I think the talk is very much related to my southeast asian module and also there are live artifacts such as cat fetus being used.
Need to pay $18 coz im not a society member.
Hmm i think set, i want to go.

So i was there watching the F1 race yesterday.
But i didnt watch from the grandstands nor did i purchase a ticket for the walkabout.
Instead, mum and i met up with aunt to go up to her office which is at the 50th floor of UOB Plaza Tower 1.
And there, we were met with a great vast sweeping view of the singapore skyline plus the brightly-lit circuit of the F1 race.
It's certainly free-to-watch anyway haha.
The most amazing thing is that we were able to hear for ourselves loud and clear the loud vrooming of the tremendous motor power coming from the race cars even from behind the office glass windows on the 50th floor.
And then today's newspapers reported that the noise could be heard from as far away as Tanjong Rhu and Jalan Besar.
Look below for pictures and videos.
(pardon me for the blurry pictures because i took them on my handphone)

Long hiatus right?
Hhaha no fret, i'm back again because i've found something to talk about.
(you might think the pictures have nothing to speak for themselves but just bear with me)
So...
I took a trip to Arab Street yesterday for my SE1101E fieldtrip report.
This was after my sis' recommendation, that i could find many things to observe and feel while there.
I didnt regret my decision to go there for my report because the whole place really gives you a feeling of nostalgia with old antique items and shopfront facades reminiscent of old-time singapore.
Let the pictures below do the talking.
Rows of colourfully-painted shop display windows and doors.

Grand Sultan Mosque, can be easily seen from afar.
Beautiful pedestrian walkway of Bussorah Street Mall.

Very captivating picture.
I have always been captivated by the trademark picture that can be found in social studies textbooks.
It somehow brings me back to the past.

Really liked the Balinese style of shopfront facade.

Little trinkets and sweets with a facade that brings me back to the past.

Nice archway.

Giant shisha hookah outside a Mediterranean restaurant.

Rattan baskets of beautiful reddish and brownish hues.
The white ones are also not bad.

Nice wall colour and windows. (good photography? haha ok joking!) A pity this egyptian restaurant was closed, i guess it opens at night. But the blue tall windows caught my eye, thus i took a photo of them.
(again good photography? again joking!)

Mosi Cafe that serves Moroccan food.

Seriously the food is veryyy delicious and also huge servings!

Value for money, i would say.
Nice female owner inside although english not too good.
Interior of the cafe, i had to sit on the carpeted floor because of the low tables.
It is the norm in Mediterranean countries.
Also i think if you patronise the cafe at night, it will be crowded with people smoking shisha.
(i would like to try that haha, joking!)

Huge shisha hookah display glass.
A cup of espresso teh tarik.
While drinking it, i can imagine the drink contains camel milk because it is sort of a staple in Mediterranean countries.
Well yeah, it tasted weird and the wierdness came from the milk.

The chicken kofta with salad and fries i had for my lunch.
Absolutely delicious really!
Costs 12 bucks.
And very filling!
I had to force myself to finish the whole bowl, eventually leaving the peas and tomato slices behind.

A shop supposely Afghan i think (going by the words of greetings) selling imported Japanese products.
What a mix of culture!
...
Overall, Arab Street is a really nice place to go to to do your own reflection due to its laidback atmosphere.
And also numerous cultures can be found there.
Let me name some of them:
Afghan, Moroccan, Arab, Malay, Turkish, Egyptian, Indonesian, Peranakan and other middle eastern nationalities.
...
Today's the F1 race!
1st practice race starts at 7pm and the whole thing ends at 11.30pm i think.
Aunt is lucky to have her office located at the 50th floor of UOB Plaza Tower 1.
That means her office building directly faces almost the whole track circuit according to her.
Highly likely that she will stay back along with her colleagues to watch the race.
Lucky her...

I've been to the toilet 3 or 4 times in school today.
But all of my businesses, big and small, are done at the squatting cubicle.
No, it's not because i like to squat while doing my business.
Because all of the toilets i went to had queues, and all the time, i got a squatting cubicle.
So wierd.
Getting a squatting cubicle is about 1/4 of the time and it's magical that i managed to get all of them.
Haha.

I think i should pat myself on the shoulder for planning my timetable in such a way that i have no lessons on Monday.
Why?
Because i wont have what everyone calls, Monday Blues.
And yea i think arranging my timetable such that school actually starts on Tuesday works perfectly.
Because i no longer feel apprehensive of Monday but instead, look forward to school on Tuesday.
Hmm, what a great satisfying idea!
:x
...
And regarding Audrey's latest post about the Serangoon Gardens issue...
Well, i've been wanting to blog about it since the estate is just maybe 3 stones' throw away from my house but it slipped from my mind somehow.
So well here goes my views on this issue.
(I'll try not to be racist here...)
...
Since everybody close to me know im racist, well not that very much, you can now guess wat my view on this issue.
Yes, im not happy abt the decision to turn the old Serangoon Gardens Technical School into a foreign workers' dormitory!
Come on, everyone knows Serangoon Gardens is set to become the next Holland Village and suddenly they want to reverse this fact by going the opposite direction and instead turn the estate into the next Kaki Bukit Industrial Park???
Hello??!!
I've been to Kaki Bukit, and all i see are piles and piles of clothing hung everywhere, their balconies, windows, gates, fences...
And millions of bicycles parked outside their rooms and dorms...
Giving them a place to live is fine with me, at least it's more orderly and humane to do so.
But at least, build the dormitory in the suburbs like Lim Chu Kang or Changi.
...
Even if im not racist, there are others who are, typical Singaporeans anyway.
These typical Singaporeans will have their parental instincts automatically turned on to full blast the moment they encounter foreign workers walking towards them in the opposite direction.
Because they fear for their children's safety.
They turn on the blinds on their car windows when their cars stop beside a lorry or a truck carrying foreign workers as they fear unnecessary stares being shown upon their offsprings.
Yes yes, i bet the Gen Y'ers' childhoods are filled with these humiliating incidents.
And even now that im already 18 years old, i still have a phobia of foreign workers looking into the car window and staring at me from their pick-ups.
Well, not all of them do that, but my stand on that is, please please call off this naive, immature idea!
Imagine a factory being built right in the middle of Orchard Road!
...
So can this post qualify to be rated NC-16?
Or even better rated PG?
Hahaha.
...
Speaking of Serangoon Gardens, i do feel a tug at my heartstrings when i heard of the news that the former Paramount Building will be torn down to make way for a new 14-storey shopping mall.
I think it will be like the tallest building in Serangoon Gardens.
My childhood was practically spent going to Cafe Cartel, CoffeeBean...
And i can still remember the pet shop which was, a pity, replaced by another shop.
But anyway, old things should make way for the new.
We just have to bear the unsightly construction works for the next 2 years.
Oh if u do ever make a trip to Serangoon Gardens, have a look at Pets' Station which is just opposite the Paramount Building.
It's the most favourite haunt of mine where i can see the different breeds of dogs.
Cute and big ones!

Somehow i really enjoy the ride home from school on bus 151.
It's when bus 151 travels along Bukit Timah Road that i begin to admire the scenery and rich people's houses.
And today was particularly more relaxing and a quiet time for me to reflect because of the blue sky.
As i looked up staring at the blue sky, it made me appreciate this part of Singapore even more and that is Bukit Timah Road.
I think if i were to live in a bungalow along Bukit Timah Road, i might not feel compelled to obtain PR status overseas.
I might not want to move away from Singapore because i would be living in my favourite part of Singapore.
I wish...
It's just my inspiration coming on today...
...
Another thing, while travelling on that same bus, i was thinking of office life and decided that i shall try to avoid working in the office after i graduate from uni.
I shall only work in the office if i dont manage to snag the ideal job i want.
First up, i think maybe i will start my own business together with mum selling Australian products that you cant find in Singapore.
For example, Jurlique and emu oil products.
The plan will be as follows: sell Jurlique products much cheaper than the prices found at large boutiques such as Tangs but still more expensive than those found in Australia of course.
As for emu oil, i dont think Singapore sells this product and i've yet to find the real benefits of using emu oil.
So yea, this is the job that i want in future.
...
I think i've begun to accept nus as my second home.
Although it has a factory-like vibe to it, it's the inside that matters.
I often found myself comforted and relaxed when i'm walking about the arts faculty trying to find my classroom.
It's because you get the feeling of home when you also see others also trying to get to their destinations.
You are like part of the nus family when you are within the four walls of nus.
You are the same as everyone else, striving to get good results and graduate with honours at the end of the day.
You are also like others, waiting for the buses to come.
You are also one of those who like to shove their way into the bus when it comes.
And again, you are part of the crowd that always take the same bus as yours.
You feel good sharing the many sports facilities that nus offers.
And not forgetting your friends, they also make you feel at home.

Whew!
I have finished my architecture group project presentation just now.
At least it wasnt so bad at all.
I just had to speak up which i felt went well for me.
The only thing i was afraid of was the Q & A session because i'm afraid i wouldnt be able to catch their questions.
So yea, thank God, i've survived the presentation.
And i've every reason to feel light and happy because there is no school tml!!!
I skipped today's architecture lecture because i didnt want to sit through the japanese lecturer's monotone droll.
And audrey has been finally introduced to my dream guy!
But she didnt find him cute!
Sob.

We rock, we rock, we rock on...
We rock, we rock, we rock on...
Camp Rock!
...
Wow!
I'm still reeling from excitement and thrill after watching a Disney Channel movie called "Camp Rock" starring Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato, one of the former Barney and Friends cast.
And today is the day im officially introduced to the teenage-crazy Jonas Brothers band by way of Camp Rock.
By comparison, Joe is the better-looking of the 3, followed by Nick and then Kevin.

Joe Jonas

Zac Efron
And somehow, if you watch the show, you will feel as though you are watching another Zac Efron from High School Musical.
Basically, Joe Jonas is the brown-eyed version of Zac Efron who's grey-eyed i think.
The physique, the height, the hairstyle, the lips...
Everything are almost identical!
And yes, judging from my post, you can tell that i prefer Joe Jonas.
Anyway, back to the show, overall i was surprised to know that it isnt about an amateur teenage show production.
Because everybody on the show really sings well especially Demi Lovato who has a great singing voice!
No kidding!
As for the hip hop segments in the show, they were really great and Joe Jonas can also do hip hop besides singing!
The show will make you feel that you are part of Camp Rock with the ultra talented cast and the picturesque summer setting.
I strongly recommend you guys to watch the show!
Get your hands on it somehow!
I feel it's better than High School Musical because i cant stand the too many cheesy mushy scenes of Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens.
Go on, watch it!
PS: I hope i dont sound like some teen-crazed fan.
